Privacy Policy

The short version
- Your calculator inputs never leave your browser. Salaries, filing status and every number you type are processed entirely client-side and are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers.
- We don't require accounts and we don't collect names, addresses or financial records.
- We use analytics to understand which pages help people, and we plan to fund the site with advertising — always behind a consent mechanism where required.
1. Data we process
Calculator inputs. All calculations (take-home pay, tax, property tax, conversions) run in JavaScript in your browser. We do not receive them.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate geography, device type, traffic source). GA4 sets cookies and processes your IP address to derive coarse location before discarding it. We use this data only to understand and improve the site. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Email. If you contact us, we keep the correspondence to answer you. We don't add you to any list.
2. Cookies
Today the site sets analytics cookies (Google Analytics: _ga, _ga_*). When advertising launches, our advertising partner (e.g. Mediavine) and its vendors may set additional cookies for ad delivery and measurement. Where consent is legally required (GDPR, ePrivacy, US state privacy laws), a consent banner will let you accept or refuse non-essential cookies before they are set.
3. Advertising
StateTakeHome is free and will be funded by display advertising. Ad partners may process pseudonymous identifiers (cookie IDs, device information) to serve and measure ads; where required, this only happens after your consent. This policy will be updated with the partner's details and vendor list when advertising goes live.
4. Your rights
Depending on where you live (EU/EEA GDPR, UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA and other US state laws, Canadian PIPEDA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Since we hold almost no personal data, most requests concern analytics/advertising cookies — which you can also clear directly in your browser. To exercise any right, email us via the contact page.
5. Data sharing & transfers
We do not sell personal data. Analytics and (future) advertising vendors process data as described above, under their own safeguards. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard server logs (IP, user-agent) for security and delivery.
6. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change (for example when advertising launches) and revise the date above. Questions? Contact us.
