GST + PST Calculator (2026)

Direct answer

Direct answer: Four provinces charge GST plus a separate provincial sales tax: British Columbia (5% + 7% PST = 12%), Saskatchewan (5% + 6% PST = 11%), Manitoba (5% + 7% RST = 12%) and Quebec (5% + 9.975% QST = 14.975%). Alberta and the territories charge GST only. Enter an amount above and pick your province to add or remove the tax.

Which provinces charge GST plus PST?

British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba charge 5% GST plus a provincial sales tax, and Quebec charges 5% GST plus the 9.975% QST.

What is GST plus PST in BC?

In British Columbia it is 5% GST plus 7% PST, for a combined rate of 12%.

Is PST the same as RST and QST?

No. BC and Saskatchewan call it PST, Manitoba calls it Retail Sales Tax (RST), and Quebec calls it the Québec Sales Tax (QST) at 9.975%.

Which provinces charge GST plus PST?

Canada has three sales-tax systems. The provinces below are the non-harmonized ones: they add a separate provincial sales tax on top of the 5% federal GST. Use the calculator above to compute or reverse the tax for any of them.

  1. Enter the amount before tax (or the total, in reverse mode).
  2. Choose the province.
  3. Read the GST, the provincial tax, and the combined total.
  4. Switch to reverse mode to back the tax out of a tax-included price.

What are the GST + PST rates by province for 2026?

Each non-harmonized province sets its own provincial rate. The combined rate is simply GST plus the provincial rate, both applied to the price before tax.

Is PST the same as RST and QST?

They are all provincial sales taxes, but the names and mechanics differ. British Columbia and Saskatchewan levy a PST. Manitoba levies a Retail Sales Tax (RST). Quebec levies the Québec Sales Tax (QST), which since 2013 is calculated on the price before GST rather than stacked on top of it. Unlike the GST, which a registered business can recover as an input tax credit, the provincial PST and RST are retail taxes that generally stick to the buyer.

How does this differ from HST?

Ontario and the Atlantic provinces fold the federal and provincial tax into a single Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), so there is no separate PST line. If your province uses HST, use our GST/HST calculator instead. For British Columbia specifically, see the BC sales tax calculator, or check your overall net pay with the Canada take-home pay calculator.
